My name is Thain Gi Oo. I am a student at Canisius College, and I will be graduating in spring, 2020. My majors are Digital Media Arts (DMA) and Mathematics. My main focus in DMA is graphic design. I am interning at WNY Book Arts Center, which is located in downtown Buffalo. The main reason I am interning at WNY Book Arts Center (BAC) is to get more experience printing on different materials. I am anticipating to learn screen-printing, letterpress, bookbinding, and papermaking at the Book Arts Center. I will be working in the printing lab for the most part and helping my supervisor. Upon discussing my responsibilities with my supervisor, I will be responsible for the setup, maintenance, and cleaning of printing equipment such as guillotine paper cutters, corner rounder, and bed and platen presses. I will also do typesetting and print using these presses. Finally, I will be responsible for the general maintenance of the print shop. I am settling in okay, but it’s too early to tell. I started on Friday, September 06, 2019. On that day, there was an art exhibition so it was different than a normal day.
