A few weeks ago I began my first internship at Kaleida Health. Kaleida Health is a non-for-profit health care network that manages hospitals around the Buffalo-Niagara Metropolitan area. I am underneath Michelle Fry, senior marketing associate. So far, I have loved every second of it. I am considered a marketing intern that focuses on social media. Specifically, I am located at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, but I write posts for both the hospital itself and Kaleida as a whole. Kaleida posts on average two times per day on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Mrs. Fry has taught me how to word different posts based on the different platform it is going on. What I have learned is sometimes there are slow days and sometimes there are crazy days. I am very excited to see the knowledge I gain in the future and the upcoming experience.

Writing social media for an actual company sounds like a lot of fun! Are you doing only promotional posts or are you also doing posts that inform about healthy habits? It’s interesting but not surprising that they would have someone from our generation be in charge of social media considering we’re so fluent in it. I’m curious how posts are different on different platforms. Could you give an example? The whole thing sounds right up your ally and I hope you really enjoy working at Kaleida-Health.
