I attended the Speedy Networking event at Canisius on Nov. 16 to fulfill my networking event requirement.

The event was structured by each student being given three minutes to talk with a professional and then switch to next the professional after the timer expired.

I benefited from the experience because I was not only able to network with various professionals from the communication field but also received some great advice that will help me decide what I’d like to do after graduation.

I got the great advice of staying passionate about what you’d like to do, and if you aren’t sure of what you’re passionate about it, find it and then try to maintain that. Another great piece of advice that I got was to set goals at the beginning of an internship with your supervisor because not only will you feel accomplished if you achieve those goals, but your supervisors will also notice.

I had a great time at this event and I’m glad I went!
