Last week I began my internship with the Courage of Carly Fund at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. I am thrilled to be working with the members of the program throughout the remainder of the semester. Being able set up positive events and put a smile on children’s faces is something that I have wanted to do since I was a little girl. My first week was spent settling in and becoming familiar with the hospital and the office. There are a lot of changes going on with the program right now and I am more than excited to be able to jump in and assist on making the club even better. Some of my current tasks include brainstorming new ideas for the care packages that the children receive when they sign up to become members of the club, and adding new bonuses to the surprise party thrown for patients upon receiving their last treatment. These are only a few of the many things that I hope I can be a part of that will have a positive impact on so many young lives. Although it won’t be all sunshine and rainbows, and there are many behind the scenes projects that I will be a part of as well, some of them I am sure that will be quite challenging. I feel that everything that I will be exposed to in these next few months will not only improve me as an employee, but a person as well.
