Finishing up my internship has been a bittersweet experience. The last couple of weeks as been relatively mellow compared to how it started off with the craziness of Lumagination and then I had a bit of a break but it picked back up with Paradise and the Easter Egg hunt.

During the beginning of my internship it was very go go go but lately I have gotten to learn more about the details and day to day operations of what it takes to work in this industry. I now know how to masterfully work hootsuite and constant contact as well as write press releases. With doing all these things I have really grown to appreciate what goes into running a non-profit marketing campaign, which is that you use any free advertising you can get and you must have very good product.  And the gardens does a great job with this.

I definitely learned  a lot but my favorite part of it was all the people I got to interact with. The Botanical Gardens is filled with fabulous full time staff, dedicated volunteers and board members that really care about the institution. While working here I was made to feel like a part of the team and felt as if I was really making a difference. In the end I could not have asked for a better internship with a better supervisor, and for that I am grateful. I look forward to the next step in life which is graduation and finding a job. I do think my experiences with The Botanical Gardens will help me greatly in the future and can’t wait to see what is in store.
