While my time with the BPO is not completely finished yet, I can passionately say that I have really enjoyed working with this organization. The people behind the scenes of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra are some of the friendliest and supportive staff that I have been around. The time and effort that goes into the after party events that follow concerts at Kleinhan’s is truly impressive and the guests appear to always enjoy themselves.

I have had the pleasure of working in several of the departments in the office but I worked most closely with the education, marketing, and development teams. I was able to write programs for the on-school time shows that teachers would use with their classrooms before attending concerts, I assisted in the application for an NEA Grant submission, I helped usher some of the morning concert series concerts, I helped prepare and set up parties for several occasions after and before BPO concerts, and I helped the development staff with updating their donor and customer records. I have learned about several different branches of arts administration through the BPO and the staff here was always very warm and welcoming to me. I thoroughly enjoyed getting the chance to work in the office, especially when I was able to visit different departments to see if anyone needed any extra assistance.

Having this internship helped me to better understand the field that I would like to go into when I graduate from my Masters. I have decided to pursue the Non-profit Masters program at Canisius and I can thank my internship and the pleasant experience that I have had for helping me to visualize a future for myself.
