I have thoroughly enjoyed my internship in special events at Sisters Hospital, even if it is not what I am pursuing after graduation. It has provided me with work experience and great mentors. My supervisors have been amazing in giving me guidance about the job and advice on what lies beyond college. I have greatly appreciated the time I have spent with them and all the opportunities that they have given me to grow, as well as their constant encouragement. They have become a very important piece of my network and they are already helping in my pursuit for a job for after graduation.

Although I have learned through this experience what I do not want to pursue, every experience was positive and helpful. I am confident that the skills I have learned will be valuable to me in whatever I decide to pursue. This experience in special events also has made me appreciate the hard work that has to be put into an event. We were working months just to put together one event. So many details are put into this work, more than I ever thought. The amount of patience and persistence that you have to have to do this job is incredible, and I commend anyone in this field.

Overall, I would recommend for future students to intern here, especially if they are very interested in event planning. It will give them a lot of exposure to the process of planning big events and what it takes to make one successful. The Black and White Gala was the main event I worked on and I was able to be there on the day to work on site. It was a wonderful event and it was great to be a part of it! It was great being able to see it from the very beginning stages of the planning process all the way to seeing it carried out.
