One part of Human Resources that tends to get overlooked is Risk Management. In this type of field, you deal with occupational safety, employee supervision and employee conduct. Eric Galdys is the  head of Risk Management for TLCannon Corporation. This is the company that owns and operates the Applebee’s restaurants. This position is a branch off of the Human Resources department. The Risk Management department helps the HR Director with the financial and benefit packages. Risk Management looks to be sure that there is not financial abuse by the employees. His job is to make sure everyone is getting a fair wage  and the company is not taking advantage of their employees.

One thing that I found interesting about Eric’s job is that he has the opportunity to drive from one Applebee’s location to another to take a survey and inspection of all the restaurants. He has to make sure that there are enough employees per section of the restaurants and all of the departments are where they should be. Eric works with the different managers at each of the restaurant locations to be sure that they are achieving the goals that they want, and no employee is under any risk. After taking this interview with Eric, I was excited to see that there is a possible branch of Human Resources that I can look more into. I have focused so much on the administrative aspects of HR and didn’t look into the other sides of this occupation.
