Here in the Center for Online Learning & Innovation we’re big fans of screencasting. We’ve created screencast tutorials to show faculty how to create screencasts for their students. But these can also be passed onto students, so they can learn to screencast, too.
Short screencasting assignments can serve various purposes. Why not have students teach each other concepts or procedures in short videos? This active learning exercise can be a simple narrated slideshow recorded as a video, a step-by-step demonstration of a web-based tool, or a lesson on how to perform a discipline-specific job in Excel.
