At Canisius College, faculty and students have access to Turnitin. Most people know Turnitin as an anti-plagiarism system that generates an originality report for the Professor, for all student materials submitted through its assignment collectors. These features are part of Turnitin, but there’s more besides that. Professors can allow students to generate their own originality reports before handing a paper in, so they can better understand how to properly paraphrase, and avoid plagiarism. Turnitin has tools to make it easier for professors to provide meaningful feedback on student writing, beyond simply academic integrity concerns.
