Do you care about our earth? Sustainability? Social justice? The ways in which these intersect with our lives, our community, and/or our spirituality? The Academic Affairs Office welcomes you to join in the Canisius Laudato Si’ Initiative!

There are two ways in which you can engage as we prepare to welcome spring back to Buffalo – join an action group to help launch our seven-year journey towards focal goals & engage in a reading group about the encyclical that started this international effort. Click here to indicate your interest today! Contact Jenn Lodi-Smith, assistant vice president for academic affairs, at lodismij@canisius.edu with any questions.

Action groups

Join in community to discern where we are and where we can go in each of the seven goals of the Laudato Si’ Action Platform – the Vatican-led seven-year journey working in collaboration with partners and individuals around the world to empower the universal Church to achieve sustainability in the holistic spirit of integral ecology. Three action groups are working on the following goals:

  • Response to the cry of the earth & Ecological education
  • Response to the cry of the poor, Ecological economics, & Community resilience and empowerment
  • Adoption of sustainable lifestyles & Ecological spirituality
