Mark you calendars! This week, the 2026 Summer Faculty Development Week is from August 17th to the 21st!

Here are a few of the the planned sessions:

  • What was your Spark? led by Dr. Jenn Lodi-Smith, Professor of Psychology
    • Come together in community to share the stories of what sparked your career and a hobby/passion/interest you enjoy outside of work! Inspired by The Spark Bird Project, this session will help us get to know each other better and create connections through storytelling. Please be prepared to share your stories with brevity (2-3 minutes) thus allowing time for everyone to engage.
  • Alternative Grading led by Dr. Nathan Fox, Associate Professor of Mathematics
    • When you think about grading, you likely think about ideas like points and percentages. The term “Alternative Grading” encompasses several options for other ways to determine student grades, each with its own specific goals in mind. In this session, we will discuss the purpose of grades, how we and our students connect to grades, and various strategies for ensuring that our grading practices are equitable, inclusive, and directly reflect student learning.
  • Sound Off: Podcasts as Assessment led by Dr. Maura Snyder, Assistant Professor of Communication
    • Learn about the benefits of podcasting as assessments. Information about utilizing the Canisius Podcast Studio and example projects provided.

Stay tuned to the COLI Blog and The Dome for RSVP information and additional sessions!
