Rev. John. P. Bucki, S.J. Appointed Rector at LeMoyne

The Superior General of the Society of Jesus has appointed Rev. John P. Bucki, S.J. as the new rector of the LeMoyne Jesuit Community in Syracuse, effective July 31.  Father Bucki will leave his post as director of campus ministry at Canisius in late July. He has been director of campus ministry since August 2001.  His gifts were immediately put to the test on September 11 of that year, when he organized the campus in prayer and reflection after the tragedies in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania.

Over the past 11 years, he has had his finger on the pulse of Canisius College.  He attended nearly every game, fundraiser, dinner, speaker, and celebration – and it has all been photographed and uploaded onto his Facebook page.  His presence and contributions to students, faculty, staff and alumni have been tremendous gifts to all.

In the coming weeks, there will be a few opportunities to say thank you and good bye to Father Bucki.  Campus ministry will host its annual Summer Picnic on Wednesday, July 11 from 6-8 p.m. in the Bart Mitchell Quad. 

 A farewell reception for Father Bucki and the campus community is being planned for Thursday, July 26 from 2-4 p.m. in the Palisano Pavilion.
