SC 1053 & 1028 are two classrooms in the new Science Hall that have been equipped with flexible furniture to enhance collaborative learning activities. One of the classrooms (1028) will be a Level 3 classroom with a podium and full level 3 features (projection, computer, document camera). The other classroom (1053) will feature enhanced technology, including three computer work stations and large display panels that can interact with the main projection screen.
The furniture for these rooms includes trapezoid tables that can be arranged in a variety of configurations, wheeled chairs, and a podium that can be moved into the center of the classroom. The intent for this space is for students to engage in high levels of critical thinking in collaborative groups, guided by the instructor.
These rooms are open to any department or discipline. If you would like to use these spaces to help your students engage in meaningful collaborative activities in your courses, contact Dave Fischer at firstname.lastname@example.org to request an assignment to one of these classroom spaces. Please specify which room you are requesting.
Not all requests can be honored, but best efforts will be made to honor your request. NOTE: any faculty assigned to SC 1053 will be required to participate in training with the Media Center, giving instructors access to the maximum features available in the space.
