Canisius College welcomes Charles Sykes, PhD, of the Indiana University African American Arts Institute, and a dynamic singing ensemble of students, to our campus on Tuesday (March 20) in Regis South at 7:30 p.m. All are invited to this free and exciting presentation, entitled “The Motown Story – Lecture and Performance.” This program will intertwine the history of the Motown Era with performances by the IU student ensemble.
Sykes has extensive experience as a music teacher, conductor, performer, and arts administrator. He is the executive director of IU’s African American Arts Institute, adjunct professor in IU’s Department of Folklore & Ethnomusicology, and the Department of African American & African Diaspora Studies.
