Trying to Influence
By Lyndsay | February 29, 2012
This afternoon I had a meeting for the Study Abroad Ambassadors, a group that I now officially belong to! As I mentioned before in one of my blogs, we go around to classrooms and attend info sessions about countries to study abroad in. Since I have some experience in that department, I’m glad I joined along with the other experienced Canisius students who have traveled to places like Ireland, Spain, Australia, and Italy. So far it has been going pretty well. I have spoken to a couple of classes about studying abroad, how great it is, and the important info. I mostly get dead stares and looks of confusion, but I know there are students out there that will want to go abroad and have the time of their lives like I did!
Today we met to gather up some awesome pictures we took in our host countries to put together a slideshow for viewing at info sessions, open houses, and Accepted Students Day. I am going to be at Accepted Students Day at the study abroad table to give info and talk about the program as well as my experience. It’s coming up, which is nuts because not only do I remember my Accepted Students Day, but I cannot believe I’m a junior in my spring semester talking to incoming freshman. I used to be that freshman, in fact, I still feel like I am!! So hopefully students come to info sessions and think about studying abroad because it really was great. It’s so bittersweet to get things together as a Study Abroad Ambassador because I love going through my pictures from my trip, but still get sad because I miss it… So glad I did it!
On a happier note, it was free pancake day at ihop tonight! Yum. If anyone went, good choice… if not there is always next year.
Have a good week everyone.
