5 Zoos in 4 Days?
By Mariel | October 12, 2011
So while everyone else was basking in the unusually warm autumn days this past long weekend, I was on a mission. Well me and everyone else in my zoo biology class. We were on a mission to visit 5 zoos in 4 days. Crazy, right? Well we did it! We visited Erie Zoo, Toledo Zoo, Brookfield Zoo, Lincoln Park Zoo and Detroit Zoo. I have seen enough zoos for a lifetime. Well, I would still like to make it to the San Diego Zoo, which is apparently an amazing zoo. I’ve seen enough zoos for a while though. Enough to build one!
That’s right, in T-minus 3 weeks, SAFARI CANISIUS will be open to the public! What is Safari Canisius you ask? Well it’s a fully operational and functional zoo right on campus! A 5 minute stroll to the Health Science building will transport you to the landscapes of Africa, the WILD continent. You will be escorted on a safari trek through deserts, savannahs and rainforests where you will come across some pretty wild creatures.
So what kind of wild creatures? Well that’s top secret. But they are real all right, on loan to us from the Buffalo Zoo itself! This is the real deal people. Open during business hours and completely FREE to the public, Safari Canisius will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience that you won’t want to miss.
So now that I’m done with my shameless self-promoting, it’s time for me to slip into social decline for 3 weeks while I get this thing built. I’ll keep you all posted on what I’m sure will be a WILD ride.
Catch you on the WILD side!
Mariel
