Rhythm and Poetry
By Michael | March 24, 2011
I am very sensitive and a bit aggressive when those who don’t listen to rap automatically shoot it down as garbage, the fact of the matter is that it is not. Rap has been classified as a negative source on American culture. News media and society will focus a lot of attention on rappers like 50 Cent ( who I hate I MUST add), but what about Lupus Fiasco. Everyone does not find it cool to glorify guns and drugs. There is more than what meets the eye or in this case the microphone. It’s hurtful when a person says there favorite music is rap and a huge elephant enters the room. Let’s talk about that elephant, why is when we hear that we position ourselves back against that person? Is it because they are uneducated, can not speak well, drug users? Who knows, because I for sure don’t fall into any of those stereotypes and to assume that would be assumption against me. Music has grown and evolved so much, and with that growth so has rap. 50 Cent is not the only person representing rap, there are others.
One of my favorite would be Chiddy Bang. They are two college kids that love to make music and rap.
Just as there are different styles of southern bluegrass of mainstream rock there is the same to rap.Rap has received a bad vibe from the use of some uncolorful words, but rap is more than that. Does any one know what rap stands for? OK since u begged ill tell you…..i Like to say Rhythm and Poetry. To be honest that’s all rap really is. It is just a person putting a poem to music.
