Canisius Gamblers

By Dan | February 10, 2011

Hello Everyone!

So during the last weekend in January I was able to deal at a casino…or as close as I ever will be to doing it. The Undergraduate Student Association, or student government here at Canisius, sponsored a Griffins After Dark and turned the Montante Cultural Center into a casino. (For those of you who don’t know, Griffins After Dark is programming that happens every Friday or Saturday evening from 10 PM to 1 AM.)

There were some really great prizes including a LCD TV, camera, Canisius snuggie, tons of gift certificates to Wegmans, the Galleria Mall, Elmwood Tacos and Subs, the bookstore, and many more! There were also fancy deserts including lemon bars, cannolis, and cheesecake. Ymm!

I had the best time dealing blackjack! Unfortunately, I was unable to play during the evening. Actually, during set-up the workers played three hands of texas hold ’em, and I won two of them! I like to think of this as one of the many unique experiences Canisius offers its students.
