When life gives you lemons…
By Emily | November 18, 2010
make lemonade! I guess my lemons these days are my video skills because they’ve been opening doors for me everywhere. Maybe I’ve found my niche?
The point is that I can add yet another thing to my resume: Video Editor of The Griffin. It sounds really nice doesn’t it! The Editor-in-Chief of this Canisius newspaper is Kate Songin, who I’ve worked with a lot over the past few years. Recently, they started a website for their paper, and realized they were missing something- videos! Knowing my expert video editing skills, Kate asked me to be in charge of videos for the site! How exciting!
Now, I know what you are thinking. ‘Emily… you are constantly saying how busy you are, how are you going to find time to make more videos every single week?’ Let me tell you mister doubter… I have absolutely no idea, BUT I’m gonna try real hard because this is an awesome opportunity! IMAGINE the portfolio pieces! Wow do I sound like a Senior or what…
My video assistant James Millard shot our first piece which was on our Men’s and Women’s home opener this past weekend. I edited it the other night, and we already have it up on youtube! Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AjWD2KZSgU
Yesterday, Kate and I went to RHA’s (Resident Hall Association) annual sit-down Thanksgiving dinner. We interviewed participants, and I actually got to be in the video as well! I’m pretty excited to edit that tonight, so look forward to that one. Here is our website: http://www.thegriffincanisius.com/ The video hasn’t gone up on it yet, but that’s because we’re still figuring things out! Keep checking back for updates!
Alright kids, time to run home to mom and dad for dinner (see previous blog). Talk to you soon!
