Workin on my Fitness
By Emily | September 30, 2010
If you are anything like me, in high stress situations, excercise always helps me to relax. I’ve been a bit of a running freak lately. It’s super funny because my whole life I’ve HATED running, but now I can’t go two days without it.
Lucky for us Canisius students, the Buffalo area provides us with multiple places to get our fix:
The Delaware Park Circle.
It’s about 1.8 miles, but it’s pretty hilly, and it’s only around a two and half minute run from main campus. SO ideal. I spent much of my summer here. I gotta laugh because a year ago, I would pass out at the THOUGHT of going all the way around the circle without stopping. Now it’s a breeze! Well, okay maybe not a breeze, but it’s totally manageable.
Hoyt Lake.
I’ve talked about this place before in a previous blog. It’s my favorite spot in Buffalo. I literally JUST discovered this past summer that there is a track around the lake. Perfect! It’s about 10 minutes away from main campus, a bit more scenic than the park circle, but it’s also not as long.
Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Okay, I know what your thinking- cemetery??? I promise you, if you walk into this particular cemetery, then you will understand. It is absolutely gorgeous. There are a couple ponds, pretty bridges, grassy hills, and tons of shady trees. There is a while bunch of wildlife inside it as well. I always enjoy running through there. During the day of course!
Finally, when all else fails, you can just go to the gym! The KAC (Koessler Athletic Center) has it’s very own weight room and gym and fitness center. You can bet that as soon as the snow hits the ground I will be there.
So never fear if you are a fitness freak and thinking about coming to Canisius. We have a lot of resources all around us, as well as our athletic center and intramural and club sports! Maybe I will try Volleyball this year… hmm…
