Stratford
By Dan | September 29, 2009
On Saturday September 19, 2009 a group of honors students, professors, and a few others went to Stratford, Ontario for a day trip. We all had our passports or enhanced driver’s licenses and we were all ready to depart on a motorcoach early in the morning.
When we arrived around 11:30, we had a while to walk around and eat lunch before the first show. We also had time to peruse through some of the shops that they had. Many of them were cute boutique style shops.
At two o’clock, we saw the musical West Side Story. This was an excellent production of the musical. They used the traditional interpretation of the musical as opposed to the Broadway revival that is done partly in Spanish.
Some of my friends and I had fun during dinner talking and laughing over different topics. Afterward, we went to a fudge shop and I bought some peanut butter fudge for my parents and a chocolate and carmel covered apple with toffee pieces on top for me. It was delicious.
Later that night, we watched Macbeth. The costuming was set in the mid-20th-century Africa. The military officials were dressed in the camouflage of the period. Common furniture was used, which was similar to that found in a military barracks. The show opened with a machine gun and was later joined by many guns, grenades, and a jeep. In addition, Lady Macbeth was dressed like Michelle Obama. She wore an outfit that was the exact same light green color that Michelle wore on Inauguration Day.
When we arrived back at Canisius at 1:00 AM the next morning, I was exhausted and ready for bed. All in a day’s work though.
