In english class we read a book called The Laramie Project. It was about societal issues such as hate crimes, homophobia, discrimination, etc. Our final project was to write our own play of 5 pages about a social issue that needs to be addressed. The ‘Survivors’ started off the walk and it felt intense. People were crying but it was so nice to see people comfortable with sharing their story. All around we saw Japanese boys and girls in their traditional clothing, kimonos. Also, there were Chinese and Japanese calligraphy artists there that would write your name in their respective native languages! It was so amazing to see them perform such swift motions of the brush and produce such wonderful looking symbols! I like the thick temple pieces because it makes them look a bit more stylish on top of allowing me to actually see what is in front of my face! And they fit my face well and correspond to my facial shape well. An embarrassing anecdote: I was walking to class one day and my friend called me from down the hall, but I didn’t know who it was because I couldn’t see. As for Spring Break itself, it was awesome. Not in the relax-at-the-beach-and-do-nothing-awesome, but hanging with your roommate for most of the break awesome. I stayed at my roommate Ethan’s house from Wednesday until Sunday (until we left to come back to school, boo!!) Spring Break begins this week as well on Friday — March 18, 2011. It will be a nice break for us because we have been working hard thus far.
