I am continuing to move forward from assignment to assignment learning lots along the way. I said in my last blog that I have a lot going on right now with my school work, this is still true this week, and I am guessing it will maintain this way until the end of the semester.

Many exciting things have happened during the first half of my student teaching placement in a fourth grade class at a Catholic elementary school in Richmond Hill (Ontario). Early last week, my cooperating teacher provided a formal evaluation of one of my Rocks & Minerals lesson presentations, which is part of my annotated unit in Science.

Hey folks! Last time I came to you and told you how WONDERFUL my job is at Safari- tutoring at-risk students– Well- unfortunately I had to quit my job to take a LONG TERM SUB position in PE and Health. It certainly is a wonderful position to have received, but boy is it hard starting over again.

I am starting to get into the trenches with all of my assignments. It’s that time in the semester when I start to feel a little overwhelmed with everything and I begin to remind myself, keep calm and stay organized and you’ll be sure to get to the finish line.

Lately, my life has been all about trying to make the world better.

First, we did volunteer work last weekend, I started at my new job helping the at-risk youth, and we ‘tried’ to adopt a new kitten. Well, the kitten was a temporary idea. Moose wasn’t too fond of it. They didn’t really get along, and so, back to the humane society you go, kitten. I thought for sure that they would get along. Moose is such a mild cat. — The kitten was a good boy too… but a little roudy. None-the-less- we tried to adopt him and it didn’t work out :(

Happy Wednesday everyone! I hope the start of another school semester has been a good one for you. So far (I realize we’re only a few weeks in!) classes are going well for me and although it’s a lot to juggle (I’m taking four classes this semester), I know it will all work out somehow. The hardest part has been getting back into the school frame of mind. I really have to force myself to stay focused and organized at times!

The culminating part of my teacher education program began on Tuesday, September 7th, in a fourth grade class at a Catholic elementary school in Richmond Hill, Ontario. Having met with the cooperating teacher several times in the past, as well as having previously met the other teachers and administrative staff at the school, certainly made it much easier for me to be completely focused on the students right from the start.
