I do not know where this semester has gone. I still find myself dating things as February when we are almost into May.

The semester is really winding down and I can see summer right around the corner! The biggest thing I have left to do for the semester is my Research Proposal for Methods. I have a lot of it done already and basically have to focus on my literature review. My proposal is about a study that will examine whether or not there is a relationship between binge-drinking among college students and the geographic location of their campus (so whether their school is in a rural, suburban, or urban location). The proposal is due next Tuesday and I have to give a presentation in class about it.

This week has been much quieter than last as the academic semester is coming to a close. Two of my classes did not meet to give the student and teachers an opportunity to prepare for our final assignments and exams. I have a notebook assignment due Monday, along with my culminating online assignment that should take me the entire weekend to finish. Exams are then given the following week, May 10-14.

This past weekend was very uneventful. I worked at Red Robin as a bartender because three of the five bartenders requested the weekend off. I worked 11 hour days both Friday and Saturday, then a pretty long day on Sunday as well. Needless to say, the only thing I did this weekend was work and sleep.

Woo Hoo!! We are certainly wrapping up the final segment of our semester here. I don’t have any final exams, but I am doing a group project. I very much dislike group projects altogether. I want to be in charge of my own work. I understand the logic–learning to work well in group situations, but by graduate school, I know what this is like. I really want to be responsible for producing my own project and having one cohesive piece to turn in.

Last week was a busy but fun week. I started off the week working on a bunch of Buffalo Flash projects in preparation for the upcoming season that starts in May. The closer we get to the first game and the closer I get to summer/warm weather, the more I excited I get for the season. It will be interesting to see how the several months of preparation will come together.

Hey everyone! We are almost there! Personally, I am looking forward to wrapping up this semester. As the weather continues to improve, the harder it is to concentrate on anything! Plus, this whole situation with my heart is pretty exhausting. I had mentioned it in my last blog (‘ER’). The medication that was initially prescribed [...]

Well, I have to say that the hard work that I have put into the subbing and coaching has finally paid off. Over the past two years I have done everything that I could to get and keep my foot in the door at a particular school district. I have coached two sports, one of which I had never coached before, been the second set of eyes for not only the high school but also the middle school, taught three classes for staff development day, and subbed for any and all subjects. All-and-all I have to say that I have spent more time in the district than most of the full-time teachers there. Well, finally on Friday, it all paid off.

<this week has seemed to have passed me by. It's just a blur of birthday parties, assignments and orders being mailed. Can you believe my husband and I actually went to see a movie with friends this week? However, I don't really remember which day we went at the moment – lol – this is how insanely packed full the week has been. Never the less, the movie "Date Night" was hilarious and quite enjoyable. We went with two other married couples (one other has children) and a friend of ours who went stag that night. Overall a good night.

As this semester comes to a close it is weird to think that I will be pushed out into the real world one year from now. There are so many opportunities that I would like to take advantage of between now and then but there is only so much time in one day. Even this summer is already packed full of jobs where I will hopefully gain experience that will make me marketable enough to get a full time position once I graduate. So far my plans for the summer include: starting my assistantship (approximately 20 hours per week, maybe more), continuing with my internship in undergraduate admissions (as many hours as I am needed), going to England as one of my internships (two weeks in July), and working at my NEW JOB (at least ten hours per week)!!
