2nd week!

By donzaj | January 26, 2010

I can’t believe the second week of classes is already over.  The days seem to be flying by!

Last Saturday I had tutor training at 8:30 am.  Canisius is in the process of applying for certification of it’s tutoring program.  In other words, all of us tutors have to go through a certain amount of training and workshops each semester.  I think this is a great idea since it will help Canisius have an even better academic reputation.  After training, I helped run group process for Canisius students applying to become RAs.  I helped with registration and also with running several of the activities.  It was a lot of work but it went pretty well.

After that, I drove to Rochester to visit some of my friends that I haven’t seen in a while.  It was a lot of fun – plus I got to test out my new GPS :-) The next day, I raced home so that I could go to men’s basketball game against St. Peter’s because they were giving away Father Dugan bobbleheads and I really wanted one.  Although Canisius lost, a lot of my CSPA friends were at the game and I got my bobblehead.

Yesterday, I had my History of Higher Ed class and Diversity in Higher Ed classes for the first time.  In Diversity, we watched a really funny episode of The Office where they did diversity training and learned exactly what NOT to do when it comes to diversity.  After class, one of our classmates was teaching a palates class as part of the New Year, New You Series sponsored by CPLD.  A bunch of the girls from my class went and it was a lot of fun.  After that, I went over to Medaille for an RA staff meeting and Residence Hall Council Meeting.

Today, I had office hours at Medaille from 10:00 am- 12:00 noon then had class from 1:30-4:15 pm.  After that, I worked at the Tutoring Center for a few hours and worked on a presentation I’m doing tomorrow as part of my C.O.P.E. internship.  I’m responsible for leading four workshops throughout the semester, so the one I’m doing tomorrow is called 5 Tips for a Successful Semester.  I’m really excited about it!
