On December 1st we celebrated the liturgical New Year and the beginning of the season of Advent! Advent is the 4-week period in which we prepare for the birth of Christ on Christmas Day. Jesus’ birth brought an abundance of love, hope, and justice to the world. Until his final coming, it is our responsibility to be examples of Christ for others. How can we be loving, hopeful, and work for justice this Advent?
Check out Busted Halo’s Advent Calendar. Each day, you’ll be given a thought for reflection and a “Daily Jolt” that will offer some direction on how to prepare for the coming of Christ.
“So too, you also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.” – Matthew 24:44
This final line from Sunday’s gospel reminds us that we should constantly be striving to live like Christ. When we make Christ-like decisions that uplift others, we work toward creating His ideal world in which social justice is a reality.
